Blogaversary!

This week we celebrate our one-year blogaversary! Presents are nice, of course, but what we’d really like are your constructive comments. Please leave a comment this week telling us what you like, what you’d like to see more of, how often you read the blog and how you use it.

In our second year, we’d like to push our boundaries even further. Our main objective is to foster more discussion. We will try to add more diversity to the voices you read here and hope that you, our readers, will join in. To this end, if you are a teacher, homeschooler, librarian, editor, parent, etc. who might be interested in writing a guest blog please send me an email at the address listed in the sidebar. We won’t make any promises but we’re open to hearing from people from all corners of the nonfiction for kids community.

I want to thank all of our I.N.K. bloggers for a fascinating year of blogging. I’ve had a sneak peek at February and March and I can say confidently that there are many more interesting things to come. Stay tuned.

Happy Blogaversary!! Thanks for all you do to illuminate the world of nonfiction. I've learned of so many good books here that I wouldn't have otherwise seen. Kudos to all the I.N.K bloggers :).

Thanks, Linda, for this wonderful opportunity to write a column! At first I thought I could recycle a lot of old stuff, but I found I really enjoy creating and expressing new ideas (for me, anyhow)on whatever crosses my mind. This just reaffirms the idea that I really don't know what I think until I write it down. I look forward to continuing my contributing.

What do I like? Everything! I like hearing from other nonfiction writers. I like hearing about so many great books that I probably wouldn't find otherwise. And I love the great essays on the craft of writing nonfiction. Thanks for your work here! ~Cheryl

Linda,
Thanks for the opportunity to take part in INK. I agree with all the other comments and would like to say it's great being part of this community that is passionate about nf. We are so often treated as the poor relations -- it's fun to be the featured act.

As a writer, I enjoy not to have to run my posts through critiquers and editors and endless revisions, then wait years for it to appear in print. Blogs are so cool -- you write it, press publish, and there it is for the world to read.

Here's to our second year....

Gretchen

Happy blogaversary! I love the site, and as a writer I'd love to hear more about craft: how you decide how to tell your story, how you find great stories to tell, how you do research, and so on. Posts that give me a behind-the-scenes look at terrific nonfiction books are my favorites.

Thanks for all your work here. It's wonderful.

Congratulations! I.N.K. is a joy to read each day.

One thing I'm always interested in seeing more of is a conversation or dialogue within posts themselves. Maybe it's just me, but I'm a sucker for oral histories, panel discussions, and exchanged letters -- here, that could be between authors who have covered similar topics, or between the author and illustrator of a single book, or among readers/reviewers with divergent opinions regarding a particular title.

As a public librarian who loves non-ficiton, I really look forward to reading this blog. It helps me keep current with all the new non-fiction being published and I have really enjoyed meeting all the authors, learning about their writing process and learning all sorts of interesting new facts. Keep up the good work!

It’s been a great year! Many, many thanks are due to Linda... we wouldn’t be here without you. Just curious, does anybody know of another group of nonfiction children’s authors who are writing a group blog? Or is I.N.K. the only one so far...?
