I.N.K. News for March

From Dorothy Patent: WHEN THE WOLVES RETURNED has been won the 2010 Great Lakes Great Books Award for Grades 2-3. Winners will be listed on the Michigan Reading Association’s web site in the coming weeks.


From April Pulley Sayre: Meet the Howlers (illustrated by Woody Miller, Charlesbridge)
and
Turtle, Turtle, Watch Out! (illustrated by Annie Patterson, Charlesbridge)
were just released.
A big book of my One Is a Snail, Ten Is a Crab (illustrated by Randy Cecil, Candlewick)
is being released in March.



Earth in the Hot Seat: Bulletins from a Warming World by Marfé Ferguson Delano won the 2010 Green Earth Book Award for nonfiction. Given by the Newton Marasco Foundation in partnership with Salisbury University, the award honors books "that best raise awareness of the beauty of our natural world and the responsibility that we have to protect it."



From Deborah Heiligman: CHARLES AND EMMA: THE DARWINS' LEAP OF FAITH is a finalist for the LA Times Book Prize in YA Literature . (Along with two other great non-fiction books Elizabeth Partridge's MARCHING FOR FREEDOM: WALK TOGETHER CHILDREN AND DON'T YOU GROW WEARY and James Cross Giblin's THE RISE AND FALL OF SENATOR JOE MCCARTHY)
Also, I will be at the New York State Reading Teacher's Conference in Saratoga Springs, NY, March 7-8th and at the Virginia Festival of Books March 20-21.
