So a digital book sn't only using the energy you use when you read it, but when it is uploaded, downloaded, read, and all the time it is stored. I recall reading somewhere that google search engines use the same amount of energy that could power a small town ....that is a lot of energy consumption that we just don't consider when we use a search engine.Junehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09794603896579291245noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1337206901491734394.post-78014805043671982562009-09-20T18:57:23.010-04:002009-09-20T18:57:23.010-04:00The way books are produced, sold, and read is chan...The way books are produced, sold, and read is changing, whether we like it or not. I say, embrace the new medium and make it ours. I can imagine all sorts of stuff we as authors can do with an ebook that we can't do with a paper book.

As for green, I would say that not using paper gives the edge to e-books, hands down.Gretchen Woelflehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03718143439736242190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1337206901491734394.post-65897577539079714042009-09-16T13:56:12.905-04:002009-09-16T13:56:12.905-04:00Hi Vicki,

I’ve been trying to read the writing on the wall, but it keeps getting graffitied over!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02783236322334230920noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1337206901491734394.post-78278166957406056732009-09-16T13:50:16.896-04:002009-09-16T13:50:16.896-04:00Excellent points!

However, I try hard to believe that if you have floor to ceiling bookshelves, especially on your north facing walls, the books will act as extra insulation, cutting down on your heating bills.

Also, I think that the less air you have to heat in your home, the less energy you use. Large stacks of books in the middle of rooms, on every available surface, filling the closets, fill this empty space nicely.Charlottehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11835101886202235868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1337206901491734394.post-81798773323350766342009-09-16T08:50:23.381-04:002009-09-16T08:50:23.381-04:00There is also a lot of paper coming into publishin...There is also a lot of paper coming into publishing houses via the mail system.Linda Zajachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11930130216892471502noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1337206901491734394.post-5518544967050108142009-09-16T08:19:39.433-04:002009-09-16T08:19:39.433-04:00What a thought-provoking post! I'm still trying to figure out how to make a living when the business model of copies sold is under attack from so many fronts.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07214356318088069618noreply@blogger.com
