I'm an old timer teacher who has just found herself teaching ancient civilizations...desperately trying to make nonfiction something kids want to read and history something they do. It isn't easy.

Our district pushes all this college readiness and yet doesn't see the magical connection between a program like you've described and getting kids to college. It's not all vocab and notetaking....it's being inspired to be curious and to want to know more and to communicate what you've learned.takefivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18233247194421936310noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1337206901491734394.post-52404601161602353592009-05-11T18:13:00.000-04:002009-05-11T18:13:00.000-04:00Dear Library Goddess,

That's why we still hear these ancient tales to this very day--it's just that not all teachers present the stories as well as you do.

Is there something in the water in Texas and Oklahoma or have I just been lucky, because I've spoken at schools down there many times and they really know how to present an author's work. Everyone seems to know my books from cover to cover and there are related posters and class projects and artwork on every wall and ceiling. You guys always blow me away.Rosalyn Schanzerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11605814379256096903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1337206901491734394.post-53154581154496638132009-05-11T12:59:00.000-04:002009-05-11T12:59:00.000-04:00Your program sounds extraordinary. I'm off to try to find the article Kathleen mentioned so that I can enjoy thinking about the possibilities even further.Linda Salzmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17217322360480267856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1337206901491734394.post-13371916130468163252009-05-11T12:17:00.000-04:002009-05-11T12:17:00.000-04:00Dorcas:

I am so grateful that there are such resourceful, creative people out there working with kids.Gretchen Woelflehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03718143439736242190noreply@blogger.com
